Jumbo supermarkets issue urgent recalls on cornmeal, wheat flour products on safety concerns

NETHERLANDS – Jumbo, a prominent supermarket chain, has announced immediate recalls of two products due to significant health and safety concerns.

The affected items are Jumbo’s organic gluten-free cornmeal and the ’00’ Soft Wheat Flour produced by Italian manufacturer Molino Chiavazza.

According to a statement on Jumbo’s official website, the organic gluten-free cornmeal has been found to contain elevated levels of fumonisin—a toxic substance that poses potential carcinogenic risks when ingested.

The product in question is sold in 400-gram packages under Jumbo’s home brand, encompassing all expiration dates.

Customers who have purchased this cornmeal are strongly advised to cease its use immediately and return it to any Jumbo store for a full refund, with no proof of purchase required. Jumbo emphasized the seriousness of the issue, stating, “If people ingest this flour, it could be dangerous to their health.”
