GEA partners with RebelDot to accelerate digital innovation in global process industry

The goal is to enable shorter product time-to-market, higher development efficiency, and more cost-effective operations through modern DevOps practices.

ROMANIA – GEA and RebelDot have announced a strategic joint venture, named RebelDot Process Industries, to accelerate digital innovation in the global process industry.

Headquartered in Cluj, Romania, the joint venture will officially launch in January 2026.

This collaboration combines GEA’s deep expertise in the process industry with RebelDot’s strong software engineering capabilities to speed up the development, scaling, and operation of digital solutions tailored for process industry and mechanical engineering companies.

The goal is to enable shorter product time-to-market, higher development efficiency, and more cost-effective operations through modern DevOps practices.

A key feature of the joint venture is the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions, including the GEA Copilot®, which assists maintenance teams with their service tasks.

GEA has assigned a dedicated software engineering team at RebelDot specifically for this purpose.

The partnership also leverages GEA’s industrial cloud platform, GEA Cloud®, which connects over 10,000 units of process equipment worldwide, providing an extensive ecosystem to deploy innovative digital solutions.

The collaboration builds on GEA’s commitment to open-source software strategies.

Earlier in 2025, GEA joined the Eclipse Foundation, an independent non-profit that supports open-source software collaboration and innovation.

The new joint venture will actively contribute open-source-ready code, enhancing the development of the process industry software community.

This openness is intended to drive faster development cycles, greater agility, and increased access to specialized expertise, forming a scalable digital ecosystem for customers.

Tom Oelsner, GEA’s Chief Digital Officer, emphasized the importance of collaboration in positioning the company as a leader in digital transformation for the process industry.

RebelDot’s recent acquisition of an AI specialist firm strengthens the joint venture’s capabilities to explore and deploy AI-driven applications at speed, benefiting original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and industrial clients across multiple sectors.

The GEA-RebelDot partnership is poised to significantly boost digital innovation and operational efficiency in process industries worldwide, aligning with both companies’ visions for more intelligent, connected industrial ecosystems.
