BELGIUM – Fedima, the Federation of European Manufacturers and Suppliers of Ingredients to the Bakery, Confectionery & Patisserie Industries, has appointed Wouter Lox as its new Secretary General, marking a significant leadership transition for the organization.

The announcement was made in early October 2025, positioning Lox to steer Fedima’s strategic efforts to support and advance the European bakery ingredients sector.

Wouter Lox brings to Fedima extensive experience in food industry leadership, most recently serving as Director General of AIJN, the European Fruit Juice Association, where he led key sustainability initiatives.

His appointment is expected to accelerate Fedima’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and food safety within the bakery ingredients supply chain. Lox’s leadership will focus on collaboratively shaping an adaptive and resilient European framework that meets evolving consumer needs and regulatory demands.

Fedima plays a pivotal role in representing bakery ingredient manufacturers throughout Europe, influencing policy, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders.

As Secretary General, Wouter Lox will oversee advocacy efforts, stakeholder engagement, and the promotion of sustainable bakery practices that align with the EU’s Green Deal and sustainability objectives.

Jean-Philippe Michaux, Chair of Fedima’s Sustainability Committee, emphasized that sustainability is not just an aspiration but a necessity for the long-term resilience of the bakery industry and its communities.

Under Lox’s leadership, Fedima plans to continue and deepen its Sustainable Grant initiative, which supports local sustainable projects in bakery and patisserie, reflecting the organization’s mission of fostering innovation and environmental responsibility.

Lox’s appointment comes at a crucial time as Fedima seeks to expand its influence in shaping EU regulatory environments supportive of growth and innovation in bakery ingredients.

His background in coordinating sector-wide sustainability roadmaps and driving food industry collaboration across Europe is expected to complement Fedima’s goals effectively.

The bakery and confectionery sector accounts for a significant share of Europe’s food and drink industry, employing over 30% of the workforce and contributing billions in exports.

Wouter Lox’s leadership aims to position Fedima as the key platform uniting ingredient manufacturers to meet future challenges through efficiency, commitment, and proactive engagement.

With Wouter Lox at the helm, Fedima’s members can look forward to strengthened advocacy, a sharper focus on quality and sustainability, and enhanced collaboration within the European bakery ingredients community, supporting a thriving and innovative sector.
