Brenntag opens nutrition innovation & application center in India
The center brings together advanced processing, formulation, blending and analytical capabilities to accelerate product development and technical problem-solving across a wide range of applications.
INDIA – Brenntag has expanded its Asia Pacific nutrition capabilities with the opening of a new Nutrition Innovation & Application Centre in Andheri East, Mumbai, a move the global ingredients distributor says will strengthen technical, analytical, and flavor application support for food and beverage customers across the region.
The centre is positioned to accelerate product development for key segments, including confectionery, dairy, beverages, snacks and convenience foods, and is intended to bring application expertise closer to local manufacturers and brand owners.
The Mumbai facility features dedicated laboratories and application kitchens designed to shorten development cycles and enable faster scale‑up from concept to commercialization.
Brenntag says the centre will provide formulation support, sensory and flavour trials, and analytical testing, which together reduce time-to-market for new product concepts while helping customers meet regulatory and quality requirements.
The company framed the investment as a response to rising demand in the Asia Pacific for tailored nutrition and nutraceutical solutions that combine functional ingredients with consumer‑ready formats.
Located in Andheri East, a major commercial hub, the new facility offers strong transport connectivity, including access to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
Designed as a substantial expansion of Brenntag’s previous laboratory, the center has been purpose-built with dedicated laboratories for multiple food and beverage categories, enabling more focused development, faster project turnaround and deeper technical support.

The site will support cross‑functional collaboration among Brenntag’s technical teams, suppliers, and customers, enabling the co‑creation of beverage concepts, oral formats, and delivery systems that address local taste profiles and nutritional needs.
The company also emphasized the center’s capacity to run pilot trials and prototype iterations, helping brands de‑risk launches and refine sensory attributes before full production.
The laboratory supports confectionery, breads and cakes, noodles and pasta, sauces and dressings, and coated and ready-to-eat snacks.
Features industrial ovens, proofers, dough molders, pasta and noodle processing systems, wafer sheet lines, and confectionery equipment to refine texture, flavor, and process performance with precision.
Additionally, the laboratory enables the creation of bespoke ingredient blends using pilot-scale blending equipment, vibro-shifters, and particle size analyzers that mirror full-scale production.
The launch coincides with Brenntag’s participation at Vitafoods India 2026(11 to 13 February 2026), where the company showcased nutraceutical concepts and application‑driven solutions developed at the Mumbai centre.
