Puratos expands regenerative farming across U.S. wheat supply chain
The company has enrolled about 30% of its U.S. wheat flour volumes in regenerative farming programs as it works toward its 2030 sourcing target.
USA – Puratos USA has expanded its regenerative agriculture program across its U.S. wheat supply chain, marking another step toward its goal of sourcing half of its key ingredients from regenerative agriculture by 2030.
The company said it has enrolled about 30% of its U.S. wheat flour volumes into mass balance regenerative agriculture programs through partnerships with farmers, cooperatives and milling companies. The move forms part of its wider sourcing plan, which includes clear targets and regular progress tracking.
Puratos defines regenerative agriculture as an outcome based farming approach that improves soil health, supports biodiversity, strengthens water management and creates long term value for farming communities.
“Everything starts with the soil, but most people never see it. Farmers are dealing with real pressure, weather, yield, long-term viability, and what happens at that level impacts everything that follows. Our role is to work alongside our partners to build a more sustainable and robust supply chain, in a way that’s practical and scalable,” said Luther Hardin, Senior Procurement Manager at Puratos USA.
The company works with its supply chain partners to introduce farming methods such as crop rotation, reduced tillage and cover cropping. Puratos said these practices help improve soil organic matter and water retention, which can support stronger farming systems over time.
Puratos also said customers want practical solutions that fit into existing operations rather than concepts that remain difficult to apply.
“Our customers do not just need ideas. They need solutions that fit into how they operate today. Regenerative agriculture cannot stay theoretical. It has to work inside real supply chains, real formulations, and real production environments. That is what we are focused on making possible,” said Michael Gleason, Product Director at Puratos USA.
The latest announcement builds on regenerative agriculture programs the company introduced in 2022. Puratos said the earlier work continues to guide the expansion of similar programs in the United States and other markets.
The company added that growing demand for greater transparency and measurable results continues to shape its sourcing plans. Through closer cooperation with partners across the wheat value chain, Puratos aims to strengthen responsible sourcing while supporting farming communities over the long term.
