Ülker recognised by S&P Global Inc. for its sustainability efforts

This marks the fifth consecutive year that Ülker has received the recognition.

TURKEY – Turkey’s leading food company, Ülker, has once again been acknowledged in S&P Global’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), which highlights top performers in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices.

Ülker’s sustainability initiatives have gained recognition in the past on both national and international platforms. For the fifth time, the company has been featured in S&P Global’s The Sustainability Yearbook.

This year, over 7,690 companies from 62 different industries were evaluated, with only 780 making the final list. Ülker was one of nine Turkish companies included and remains the only Turkish representative among the 26 global food sector companies recognized.

Mete Buyurgan, Ülker’s CEO, emphasized the company’s unwavering commitment to sustainability, stating that Ülker takes pride in its sustainability-driven growth and operational excellence being recognized on international stages. “We have started 2025 on a strong note,” he said.

Buyurgan also noted that following the January 2024 assessment by the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), a global financial analysis and reporting organization, Ülker ranked first in its category among 484 companies worldwide in the January 2, 2025 evaluation of the ESG performance of publicly traded companies.

Ülker is a Turkish multinational food and beverage manufacturer based in Istanbul, that primarily manufactures biscuits, cookies, crackers, and chocolates, although it has expanded to other categories. Its products are exported internationally, to 110 countries.

The CSA evaluates companies across 62 industries using industry-specific questionnaires that cover an average of 23 sustainability topics through 110 questions.

Based on their performance, companies receive scores ranging from 0 to 100 and percentile rankings for financially relevant sustainability criteria.

The participating companies represent nearly half of the global market capitalization relative to the S&P Global Broad Market Index.

They also comprise 44% of the companies in the S&P Global LargeMidCap Index, 55% in the S&P 500 Index, and 58% in the S&P Global 1200 Index.

Over the past 25 years, the CSA has evolved into a leading corporate sustainability database, attracting the attention of capital market stakeholders. In 2024, more than 3,500 companies actively participated in the CSA.
