Scoular to lease 3 grain facilities to Scott Cooperative
The three rail-served facilities will give the cooperative greater access to domestic and export markets.
USA – Scoular has entered into a commercial agreement to lease three of its rail-served grain handling facilities in Kansas to the Scott Cooperative Association, effective September 1, 2026.
The long-term lease arrangement covers operational infrastructure located in Oakley, Monument, and Winona.
The strategic transaction enables Scott Cooperative to extend its active agricultural footprint northward into new territories across western Kansas while providing regional grain producers with broader access to key domestic and international export markets.
The newly integrated infrastructure provides critical operational advantages for Scott Cooperative’s member-owners.
All three grain-handling sites have direct access to major rail lines, offering significantly higher volume transport efficiency and faster turnaround times than truck-only freight hubs.
By utilizing rail logistics, the cooperative can seamlessly transport large volumes of wheat, corn, sorghum, and other regional commodities during peak harvest seasons.
The expansion also helps smallholders optimize their grain marketing strategies and cut transportation costs without requiring the capital expense of ground-up facility construction.
The agreement builds upon a long-standing partnership between Omaha-based Scoular and Scott City-headquartered Scott Cooperative.
The two organizations already co-own a limited liability company that oversees grain facilities in Selkirk and Pence, Kansas, which are operated by the cooperative.
Executive leadership from both companies said the operational transfer leverages existing regional infrastructure to ensure continuity, advance economic opportunities, and serve more than 1,300 farmer-members who rely on local handling services throughout the High Plains.
Under the leadership of CEO Jason Baker, Scott Cooperative plans to manage staffing, grain intake, and day-to-day operations across the three newly acquired locations.
Meanwhile, Scoular will maintain supporting roles in regional grain trade and global supply chain logistics.
For Scoular, the lease represents another way of working with agricultural cooperatives while maintaining connections across the grain supply chain.
The new arrangement is expected to provide Scott Cooperative with greater capacity and market access while giving farmers in western and northwestern Kansas another channel for grain handling and marketing.
With operations beginning September 1, the expansion will strengthen the cooperative’s regional infrastructure as it continues to grow its services to producers.
