USA – Scoular, a global agribusiness, has announced a strategic partnership with CIBO Technologies, a leading agricultural climate software company, to help farmers embrace regenerative agriculture practices and capitalize on the growing demand for low-carbon intensity (CI) crops in biofuels feedstock.
This collaboration is set to assist farmers in collecting critical data, modeling emissions reduction outcomes, and preparing for tax incentives offered under Section 45z of the Inflation Reduction Act.
Section 45z creates tax credits to encourage biofuel producers to use low-CI feedstocks, pushing the industry toward reducing the carbon footprint of transportation fuels.
By lowering the carbon intensity of their crops, farmers can attract biofuel producers seeking more sustainable feedstocks while also improving their environmental outcomes.
At the heart of the partnership is CIBO Impact, a scalable software platform designed to support Scoular’s efforts in data collection and program development.
CIBO Impact enables Scoular’s network of farmers to track and quantify the benefits of regenerative agriculture practices. Scoular can now quantify the benefits of its farmers’ regenerative practices and help them to monetize positive environmental outcomes.
“At Scoular, we’re committed to developing the solutions our farmers need to thrive in the rapidly evolving sustainability landscape,” said Beth Stebbins, director of sustainability at Scoular.
According to Stebbins, the partnership with CIBO Technologies ensures they stay ahead of regulatory changes and establish a data-driven foundation for regenerative agriculture.
“As Section 45z develops, we’re positioning our farmers to meet biofuel producers’ demand for sustainable feedstocks and secure financial incentives in the future,” she added.
Based in Minneapolis, CIBO Technologies applies advanced software tools to enhance the understanding of agricultural systems at scale. The company’s goal is to drive regenerative agriculture practices that mitigate climate change, improve food system resilience, and boost grower outcomes.
Daniel Ryan, CEO of CIBO Technologies, noted the importance of this partnership in advancing sustainability within agriculture.
“Scoular recognizes the need for action now, and while the full scope of Section 45z is yet to unfold, this partnership allows us to be proactive in shaping the future of low-carbon farming,” said Ryan.
This initiative is timely, given the anticipated rise in biofuels demand as more industries seek to decarbonize their supply chains.
The Inflation Reduction Act’s Section 45z serves as a key driver, offering incentives that could prove vital in promoting the widespread adoption of regenerative agriculture across the United States.
