Samuel Schär to lead Bühler Group as CEO from 2026 in planned leadership restructure

Current CEO Stefan Scheiber will be proposed as Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Annual General Meeting in February 2026, succeeding Calvin Grieder.

SWITZERLAND –  Bühler Group has announced that Samuel Schär, a 20-year veteran of the company, will take the helm as Chief Executive Officer starting January 2026, marking a pivotal shift in the leadership of the global technology group.

Concurrently, current CEO Stefan Scheiber will be proposed as Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Annual General Meeting in February 2026, succeeding Calvin Grieder, who will retire after 25 years of influential leadership roles at the company.

The leadership reshuffle marks a new chapter for the Swiss technology group while maintaining the strategic continuity valued by its employees, partners, and stakeholders.

Bühler’s proactive planning, spearheaded by its Board of Directors, ensures that the leadership baton is passed to experienced insiders who have shaped the company’s innovations and global outreach over decades.

Samuel Schär, the incoming CEO, holds a degree in physics from EPFL Lausanne and began his Bühler journey by launching the Nanotechnology business unit.

His subsequent leadership of the Wet Grinding & Dispersing business and his decade-long tenure as head of the Advanced Materials segment have been pivotal in shaping Bühler’s competitive edge.

More recently, he has led the Group’s Global Services & Sales organization, equipping him with comprehensive insights across Bühler’s operational landscape.

Stefan Scheiber, who will transition from CEO to Chairman, boasts a remarkable 35-year career within Bühler, with 20 years in top management.

His decade at the helm as CEO has been marked by strategic expansion, innovation, and operational resilience. Scheiber’s new role as Chairman will ensure continuity and guidance as the company navigates future challenges.

Calvin Grieder, who will step down in 2026, has been instrumental in Bühler’s evolution into a globally recognized technology group. His legacy includes transformative leadership as CEO, a seat on the Board, and later, Chairman.

Grieder’s tenure has seen Bühler expand into new markets and technologies, solidifying its role as a global leader in processing solutions for food, mobility, and advanced materials.

The succession planning aligns with Bühler’s long-term vision under the stewardship of the Bühler family.

The fifth generation, Karin, Maya, and Jeannine Bühler, continue to uphold the ownership philosophy introduced by Urs Bühler. Their commitment ensures the Group will remain a privately owned, independent, and globally active company focused on innovation and sustainability.
