Postbiotics Inc. clinches top position in Gut Health Innovation Challenge

The announcement was made at the global Future Food-Tech summit held in San Francisco.

USA – Postbiotics Inc., an innovator in longevity products focused on the connection between gut health and healthy aging, has been recognized by Puratos and Future Food-Tech as the winner of the Gut Health Innovation Challenge.

This competition featured 49 participants and provided startups and scale-ups the opportunity to showcase their groundbreaking food solutions designed to modulate the gut microbiome and highlight their effects on physical and mental well-being.

Postbiotics Inc. secured the prestigious award after presenting its novel postbiotic, Pozibio, to a jury composed of progressive food brands, corporations, and investors. The pitch demonstrated Pozibio’s potential to revolutionize the gut health category.

Significantly, Pozibio has shown in pre-clinical models that it can protect the gut wall and reduce systemic inflammation.

Researchers have identified its mechanism of action, and Postbiotics Inc. is actively conducting clinical research to explore the ingredient’s health benefits further.

Additionally, Pozibio is heat stable and has a neutral flavor profile, making it suitable for use in a variety of applications, including bakery, patisserie, and chocolate products.

Along with the recognition that comes with the award, winning the challenge provides Postbiotics Inc. with senior leadership coaching in areas such as regulatory affairs and marketing.

The company will also gain prominent media exposure to increase its visibility. Furthermore, it can now pitch to Sparkalis, a food tech investment fund dedicated to creating a healthier and more sustainable world through advanced technology.

The Gut Health Innovation Challenge is part of Puratos’s mission to develop innovative food solutions that not only appeal to consumers’ tastes but also promote health and well-being while prioritizing sustainability.

Puratos invests in ongoing research and development to create ingredients and co-develop bakery, patisserie, and confectionery products that support gut health in partnership with the winners of this competition.

One.Bio, the 2022 Innovation Challenge winner, continues to collaborate with Puratos, refining its proprietary process to upcycle waste ingredients into products with improved sensory properties that positively influence gut health.

“Digestive health, and gut health more broadly, are global concerns. The ability to use this ingredient across diverse food categories is extremely appealing. It was evident to the judges that Postbiotics Inc. is a promising startup with a bright future in the dynamic gut health category. Now, the team can leverage our global resources and expertise to further develop and refine its solution—watch this space!” said Dr. Sara de Pelsmaeker, Group Health & Well-Being Director at Puratos.
