Nestlé partners with BCSIR to launch cereal-based fortifier for children’s nutrition  

This innovative fortifier addresses micronutrient deficiencies prevalent in this age group, enhancing nutrition with an affordable, accessible product designed to meet the nutritional needs of Bangladeshi children.

BANGLADESH – Nestlé Bangladesh PLC, the Switzerland-originated company, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR), has launched Nestlé Pushtigrow+, a new cereal-based fortifier aimed at combating dietary deficiencies among children aged 5 to 9 years.   

The launch underscores Nestlé’s commitment to addressing malnutrition and improving the nutritional landscape across all social strata in Bangladesh by leveraging scientific expertise and government resources.  

Nestlé Pushtigrow+ is formulated to provide probiotics and 16 essential nutrients critical to children’s growth and development.   

This innovative fortifier addresses micronutrient deficiencies prevalent in this age group, enhancing nutrition with an affordable, accessible product designed to meet the nutritional needs of Bangladeshi children.   

Its development involved extensive collaboration with BCSIR, the country’s leading multidisciplinary government research organization, ensuring the fortifier is scientifically robust and adapted to local dietary challenges.  

The launch event was a high-profile occasion, attended by key figures, including Ms. Shamina Ahmed, Chairman of BCSIR; His Excellency Mr. Reto Renggli, Ambassador of Switzerland to Bangladesh; and His Excellency Mr. Dharmapala Weerakkody, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Bangladesh.   

Around 100 industry opinion leaders were also present, highlighting the initiative’s significance for public health and nutrition policy.  

Dr. Samina Ahmed, Chairman of BCSIR, emphasized the transformative potential of this collaboration, noting that the combined efforts of a multinational corporation and government science institutions can significantly advance Bangladesh’s progress toward its Sustainable Development Goals related to child nutrition.

The company, part of the global Nestlé group headquartered in Switzerland, has a strong presence in Bangladesh and offers a broad portfolio of dairy, cereals, beverages, and infant nutrition products.   

The launch of Pushtigrow+ reinforces Nestlé’s focus on developing solutions tailored to emerging market needs with a particular focus on health and well-being.  

With malnutrition still a pressing public health issue in Bangladesh, Nestlé Pushtigrow+ represents a strategic advance.
