Mondelez invests in its biscuit plant in Poland

The new investment will include the installation of a dedicated production line for Lubisie biscuits, alongside a second production line for Milka biscuits.

POLAND – Mondelez International is making a significant investment of 620 million zlotys (US$169 million) to expand its biscuit manufacturing facility in Płońsk, central Poland, aiming to turn it into the country’s largest biscuit plant.

The expansion project is scheduled for completion in 2026 and is expected to increase production capacity by 30%, while creating 180 new jobs, adding to the site’s current workforce of about 700 employees.

The Płońsk site, operational since 1976 with just three production lines, has grown into a key biscuit hub for Mondelez in Europe.

It currently produces around 60% of the European output of the Barni brand, also known as Lubisie in Poland.

The new investment will include installing a dedicated production line for Lubisie biscuits, alongside a second production line for Milka biscuits, highlighting the company’s focus on scaling its core brands through enhanced capacity and efficiency.

In addition to new production lines, the investment will fund construction of a new raw materials warehouse and infrastructure upgrades at the facility.

These modernization efforts aim to boost operational efficiency by 30% and enhance safety protocols, aligning with Mondelez’s sustainability and safety standards.

Adam Kamiński, Director of Biscuit Manufacturing in Poland for Mondelez, emphasized Poland’s strategic importance to the company’s supply chain, noting that the Płońsk plant plays a key role in reinforcing Mondelez’s leadership in the European snack market.

Mondelez operates seven factories and a research and development center in Poland, which supports innovation across the company’s portfolio, including popular brands like Oreo, Milka, Cadbury, and the local 3Bit brand.

Once completed, the expansion will make Płońsk a flagship site for Mondelez in Europe, capable of supporting future product launches and responding to evolving consumer preferences.

The investment underscores Mondelez’s confidence in the Polish market and its ambition to remain a global leader in biscuits and baked goods.

Additionally, the Polish investment reflects Mondelez’s broader strategy to strengthen its European manufacturing footprint, meet increasing consumer demand for biscuits and snack products, and drive operational excellence and product innovation in its plants.
