UK – Jones Village Bakery, based in North Wales, has officially launched a new £20 million (US$26.2M) production line at its flagship facility on the Wrexham Industrial Estate.
Completed two days ahead of schedule after a 14-month installation, the state-of-the-art line doubles the bakery’s roll-making capacity, marking a significant expansion in the company’s manufacturing capabilities.
The advanced equipment, sourced from the Netherlands, is designed to mimic the craftsmanship of traditional baking while easing the manual labor burden on the workforce.
This investment is part of a broader £47 million (US$61.57M) expansion package, which also includes plans to enhance storage facilities and rebuild on the site of a bakery destroyed by fire in 2019.

CEO Simon Thorpe emphasized that the expansion is a direct response to strong demand driven by the quality of Jones Village Bakery’s products and excellent customer service.

The company expects the increased production capacity will directly support job creation, aiming to add 60 new jobs by next summer as part of its operations scaling up.
Group Head of Engineering, Kris Green, highlighted the bespoke nature of the production line, which blends modern automation with artisan baking skills to boost efficiency without compromising product quality.
Group Head of Operations, Andy Beckett, added that the expansion signifies a new era for the company, enhancing its ability to serve customers in greater volume and variety.
The investment and capacity increase reinforce Jones Village Bakery’s position as one of the UK’s major food manufacturers and mark a strategic advance to capitalize on the rising demand for bakery products.

Jones Village Bakery was acquired by Menissez Baking Group in mid-2024, and this production line project is a cornerstone of its growth strategy under new ownership.
