Fressnapf expands European footprint with acquisition of Dutch pet retailer, Jumper Groep

GERMANY- The Fressnapf Group has solidified its presence in the European pet retail landscape with the recent acquisition of Jumper Groep, a leading Dutch pet specialty retailer.

The recent announcement positions Fressnapf | Maxi Zoo as a major player in 14 European countries, boasting a network of over 2,000 retail locations.

Headquartered in the Netherlands, Jumper stands as the second-largest specialty pet retailer in the country. The company operates 47 branded stores, three franchise outlets, and 19 shop-in-shop locations, establishing a strong foothold in the Dutch market.

We are very proud of how Jumper has grown and become a successful company. The vision and core values of the Fressnapf Group match perfectly with ours. Together with Fressnapf, Jumper has now the opportunity to realize its great ambitions in a growing Dutch market. I wish my team all the best for this endeavor,” Kees Vierhouten, former owner of Jumper stated.

The strategic significance of the acquisition is underscored by Fressnapf’s goal to advance its position in the Dutch market. Torsten Toeller, the owner of Fressnapf, commented, “The acquisition of Jumper Groep is strategically important for Fressnapf. Jumper has great employees and stores throughout the country. The expansion will give us access to a highly developed and growing pet market with a volume of US$1.85 billion. We are also convinced that our omnichannel ecosystem strategy will work in the Netherlands.”

This move follows Fressnapf’s series of strategic expansions across Europe, including a merger with Arcaplanet in Italy, investments in ZOOCITY in Croatia, and a recent entry into the Romanian pet retail market.

The acquisition of Jumper aligns with Fressnapf’s commitment to strengthening its presence in key markets and leveraging its omnichannel approach to meet the evolving needs of pet owners.

As Fressnapf continues to broaden its reach and enhance its retail network, the company remains at the forefront of the dynamic and growing European pet retail industry.

Additionally, in September, Fressnapf opened a new state-of-the-art logistics facility purpose-built by industrial project developer Panattoni.

This expansive facility, spanning 47,500 square meters in Neuruppin, now stands as the eighth logistics hub within Fressnapf’s European network.

Its primary function is to serve as a regional warehouse, strategically positioned to support the company’s future business expansion endeavors.

Panattoni meticulously designed and constructed this facility to meet Fressnapf’s specific requirements.
