Egyptian fertilizer giant CFC–Evergrow inks MOU with South African agencies to boost input supply for the agricultural sector

SOUTH AFRICA – The CFC–Evergrow consortium, a leading company in the manufacturing and marketing of specialized fertilizers in Egypt has entered into a strategic partnership with South African agencies to provide Agrologistics services and input supply for the agricultural sector.

The South African agencies involved are the Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC) and the Chris Hani Development Agency (CHDA). The CFC–Evergrow consortium comprises the CFC Group for Chemicals and the Evergrow Group with a presence in Egypt and the Middle East.  

Mr. Sameh Banany, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the CFC Group for Chemicals, and Mr. Mohammed Mohammed El Kheshin, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Evergrow Group for Specialized Fertilizers, signed the memorandum of engagement on behalf of the CFC – Evergrow consortium.

Representing the South African side, Mr. Ayanda Wakaba, CEO of the ECDC, and Mr. Abongile Hala, CEO of CHDA, also signed the agreement.

The signing ceremony took place during the visit of a high-level delegation from South Africa, led by Mlungisi Mvoko, Executive Council Member for Economic Development in the Eastern Cape Province.

The delegation also included officials from the ECDC and the CHDA, as well as Tseki Mashimbyi, the Ambassador of South Africa in Egypt.

The delegation toured the Evergrow Industrial Complex in Sadat City and witnessed the state-of-the-art facilities and products of the consortium.

Commenting on the deal, Mr. Sameh Banany said that the strategic alliance aims to achieve a common goal of promoting the agricultural sector by providing technical expertise, high-quality fertilizers, and chemical products to support South Africa, leveraging all resources and capabilities to address challenges and seize opportunities in the fertilizer industry.

“By pooling our resources, expertise, and innovative solutions, we aspire to enhance comprehensive economic development and prosperity in the Eastern Cape region, alongside meeting the needs of our counterparts in South Africa,” he added

The visit was a follow-up to the previous visit of Mr. Oscar Mabuyane, the Premier of the Eastern Cape Province, to Egypt, which was facilitated by the Ambassador of South Africa in Egypt, and supported by the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa.
