The new line has been installed at the company’s Weston Road site in Crewe, increasing its overall cookie production capacity by more than 30%.

UK – Compleat Foodservice, a subsidiary of The Compleat Food Group, has unveiled a new, state-of-the-art cookie production line at its manufacturing facility in Crewe following a capital investment of £600,000 (US$809,841).
The strategic expansion responds directly to accelerating consumer demand across retail and quick-service restaurant (QSR) channels for premium, highly indulgent sweet bakery offerings.
The new facility enhancement is projected to increase overall cookie production volume at the Cheshire site by more than 30%.
Driven by rising orders for higher-specification treats, Compleat Foodservice forecasts a nearly 28-30% increase in commercial product value between April 2026 and March 2027.
The Crewe plant, which operates under the historic Wrights bakery banner within the group, produces baked goods for many of the UK’s largest retail grocers and QSR brands.
Engineered specifically for complex, premium formulations, the new equipment provides the operational versatility needed to manufacture larger-format cookies, soft-baked filled varieties, and products containing a wider array of premium inclusions.
These include oversized chocolate chunks, confectionery pieces, and specialized flavor pairings such as white chocolate with miso, milk chocolate with salted caramel, and triple chocolate.
Beyond increasing throughput, the upgraded machinery offers greater flexibility across batch sizes, formats, and recipe configurations, allowing the manufacturer to co-develop bespoke, private-label ranges for clients at significantly faster speeds.
The investment coincides with a broader national trend in the UK sweet bakery market, where retail shoppers and foodservice patrons are increasingly seeking visually impactful, cafe-quality treats.
Commercial Director Helen Bowyer highlighted that the investment enables Compleat Foodservice to support key commercial partners in bringing premium products to market while enhancing overall manufacturing agility across diverse price points and quality tiers.
The Compleat Food Group stands as one of the UK’s leading food producers, generating an annual turnover of approximately £1.4 billion (US$1.89B) and employing over 6,300 workers across 18 operational sites.
As the group continues to expand its market share in chilled and sweet bakery categories, the Crewe facility investment reinforces its commitment to long-term innovation, category leadership, and scalable production capability.
