The investment expands custom seed treatment services for cereal crops and specialty vegetables across several US states.

USA – CHS has installed a new seed treatment blender at its facility in Rockford, Washington, strengthening its ability to serve growers across the Pacific Northwest.
The new system expands CHS’s seed treatment services and allows the company to prepare custom blends for both cereal crops and specialty markets such as large seeded vegetables. The Rockford installation marks the fifth blender added to the company’s Seed Treatment Inoculant Customized Blending service since 2011.
CHS says the equipment will help growers in Washington, Idaho, Oregon, and Montana address common early season crop risks, including disease pressure, insect activity, and uneven crop establishment.
“Seed treatment is one of the most effective tools growers have to protect yield potential before the crop even emerges,” said Blake Murnan, director of seed applied technologies at CHS. “This investment brings greater flexibility, precision, and value to our customers in a region where customized solutions matter.”
The Rockford blender allows CHS to respond faster to grower needs while improving the supply of treatment blends across the region. The system also increases access to crop protection products from industry partners, giving farmers more options when selecting treatments suited to local cropping conditions.
CHS works with agricultural retailers and wholesalers across the region. The company expects the new installation to strengthen support for these partners while helping farmers manage crop risks during the early stages of growth.
CHS operates as a farmer owned cooperative and serves customers in 65 countries. The company provides crop inputs, grain marketing services, and risk management support. Its agronomy, grains, foods, and energy businesses generated revenue of US$35.5 billion (US$35.5 billion) in fiscal year 2025.
Ethics recognition for second year
The company also received global recognition for its business practices. Ethisphere named CHS one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies for the second year in a row.
The 2026 list includes 138 companies across 17 countries and 40 industries. CHS ranks among only nine companies in the food, beverage, and agriculture category.
“We are proud to receive this global recognition for our ongoing commitment to business integrity through strong ethics, compliance, and governance practices,” said Jay Debertin, president and CEO of CHS. “Our employees made this possible by bringing our core value of integrity to their daily work and interactions.”
Companies seeking the recognition must submit more than 240 data points covering governance, compliance systems, ethics culture, environmental and social impact, and value chain practices. A panel of experts reviews the submissions and evaluates each applicant before selecting the final group of honorees.
