BW Flexible Systems introduces upgrade to its flow wrapper

This enhancement was first introduced a year ago at PACK EXPO East.

USA – BW Flexible Systems, a leading provider of equipment solutions, has announced enhancements to its Hayssen R300 flow wrapper.

The upgraded solution will now feature BW Packaging’s OpView human-machine interface (HMI) as standard, significantly improving user training and operations.

This update will provide baked goods producers with the flexibility needed to adapt their equipment to constantly changing production needs.

“We’re thrilled to receive such positive feedback since the launch of the Hayssen R300 last year. Its user-friendly design has enabled our customers to quickly and efficiently automate the packaging of their baked goods. With OpView now standard for this product, we anticipate even easier operations moving forward,” said Brantley Turner, Director of Product Management at BW Flexible Systems.

OpView, which made its debut at PACK EXPO International in November, helps bakeries address significant operational challenges through simplified operations and troubleshooting, streamlined operator training, and enhanced flexibility for future innovations.

In 2024, the HMI was recognized for its design excellence, winning two iF Design Awards in a prestigious global design competition that evaluates quality across various industries.

Joe Ambrose, Director of Digital Innovation at BW Packaging explained that what makes OpView special is that operators of all experience levels can use its smartphone-like interface to set up, operate, and troubleshoot the R300 effortlessly.

She added that this is especially beneficial for operations facing a shortage of experienced operators, making it an ideal fit for small- and medium-sized bakeries.

In addition to its HMI, the Hayssen R300 features several elements designed to optimize production.

Automated adjustments and easy changeovers are intended to maximize uptime and ensure smooth operations.

The ultra-low roll height increases operator accessibility, making it easier for personnel to load film rolls.

Clear guards and an open design provide better visibility into the long seam unit for safe and efficient troubleshooting. Moreover, the adjustable folding box accommodates a wide range of SKUs.

BW Flexible Systems is one of three divisions—alongside BW Filling & Closing and BW Integrated Systems—within BW Packaging, the packaging machinery group of Barry-Wehmiller.

With a global presence in 25 countries, BW Packaging is dedicated to the performance of its products, integration services, sustainable offerings, and lifetime support for every solution.
