Bühler elevates industrial baking standards with new SmartLine innovations

The three innovations reflect Bühler‘s broader strategy of equipping food producers to navigate increasingly volatile markets with smarter, more energy-efficient processing technology.

GERMANY – Bühler Group, a global leader in food processing technology, has officially unveiled a series of high-performance additions to its bakery and confectionery portfolio, presented in Interpack 2026 in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Expanding its Smartline portfolio for biscuit and cracker production, Bühler is introducing the TurbuBake Smart oven and the RotaMold Max Smart rotary molder; solutions designed to increase efficiency, simplify operation, and offer greater production flexibility.

In addition, Bühler is launching SoftDrop, a flexible, cost-competitive solution for soft mass deposition.

These solutions are specifically engineered to help manufacturers navigate the challenges of fluctuating raw material costs and increasing demand for operational flexibility.

The centerpiece of the bakery expansion, the TurbuBake Smart gas tunnel oven, addresses the industry’s critical need for energy efficiency.

By utilizing an optimized Impact Flow Control (IFC) airflow concept, the system reduces energy consumption by up to 15% compared to conventional models.

Beyond its sustainability credentials, the TurbuBake Smart features a standardized design that lowers the total cost of ownership and an intuitive human-machine interface (HMI) designed to simplify operation for plant staff.

Complementing the baking process is the RotaMold Max Smart, a high-precision rotary molder built for high-speed biscuit production.

Capable of supporting line speeds of up to 40 meters per minute, the RotaMold Max Smart ensures exceptional product consistency, maintaining a weight and shape coefficient variation of 1% or less.

Its design prioritizes hygiene and uptime; the die roller and knife are engineered for rapid removal, allowing for thorough cleaning and faster product changeovers, which are essential in modern, versatile production environments.

Furthermore, Bühler has introduced SoftDrop, a versatile, cost-competitive solution for soft mass depositing, wire-cutting, and extrusion.

SoftDrop can handle a wide range of products, from muffins and meringues to delicate fillings and decorations.

Its lightweight pumphouse and “roll-on/roll-off” functionality make it easy to handle and integrate into existing lines.

Céline Vachet, Head of Product Management Biscuit at Bühler, noted that TurbuBake Smart and RotaMold Max Smart further expand the Smartline portfolio with solutions that combine efficiency, flexibility, and ease of use, while SoftDrop broadens the company’s offering by helping manufacturers address a wider range of applications with a cost-competitive setup.

By integrating these smart technologies, Bühler continues to drive the digital transformation of the bakery sector.

These systems offer not only improved yields and resource conservation but also the agility required to meet shifting consumer trends in the global fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) market.
