Broadway Bakery’s bread crowned “Bread Brand of the Year” at the FMCG Brands Kenya Awards
Broadway Bakery has been recognized for this achievement for two consecutive years.
KENYA – Broadway Bakery’s bread has been awarded “Bread Brand of the Year” at the FMCG Brands Kenya Awards 2024-2025.
The company credited the victory to their loyal customers and thanked them for making Broadways to be the number one bread brand in Kenya since 1958.
Broadways, established over 60 years ago by the Shah family, has grown from a small bakery producing scones to a significant player in Kenya’s bread market, producing up to 240,000 loaves daily.
The company has a history of embracing cutting-edge technologies, such as automated bread production lines sourced from Dutch supplier Royal Kaak, which was implemented to streamline production while meeting high demand.
This technological investment has been instrumental in maintaining Broadways’ position in the market, enabling the company to deliver quality products consistently while managing high-capacity production.
FMCG Brands Kenya Awards started in 2022 as a platform for recognising distinguished FMCG industries and brands in Kenya in an event that takes place annually.
This is not the first time that the company has been graced by the FMCG Brands. In 2021, the bakery received the award for Most Admired Sales Company of Kenya, in the category of FMCG – Bakery Products.
Additionally, in 2023, Broadway Bakery bagged the Community Impact of the Year Award for its ‘Be Sugar Smart’ campaign.
According to Broadway Group Business Development Executive Devan Shah, the ‘Be Sugar Smart’ campaign started six years ago and has so far reached hundreds of thousands of Kenyans in different counties.
Through this campaign, the company went around the country conducting free screening tests for diabetes and other lifestyle diseases.
During the same ceremony, Bakex Millers, a sister company to Broadway Bakery, received the New Product of the Year award for its blended all-purpose baking flour, Ungano, the first one of its kind in East Africa.
Last year, Broadways Bakery received the prestigious Innovation Award from Lesaffre, a global leader in yeast and fermentation solutions.
The award honoured Broadways for its forward-thinking approaches within the baking industry and recognized the company’s commitment to product quality and innovative practices in bread production.
