Ross debuts blenders for mixing of free-flowing solids

A 7.5 HP TEFC motor, which can reach speeds of up to about 20 rpm, powers the vessel’s spin.

USA – Charles Ross and Son Company (Ross), a processing equipment manufacturing company, has debuted the Ross Model VCB-10, a blender tailored for mixing free-flowing solids.

The blender is constructed with stainless steel product contact surfaces, and features a 10-cubic-foot working capacity supporting a maximum bulk density rating of 125 lb/ft³. Designs for higher densities are available.

Unintentional contact with the blender’s spinning assembly is reportedly avoided by a safety rail assembly that consists of a fixed rear guard rail and a two-section front gate with limit and safety interlock switches.

The equipment also has an 8″ manually operated stainless steel type 304 dust-tight butterfly valve, with support legs that give the valve a 54″ clearance from the floor underneath it, to offer effective discharge.

The NEMA 12 Control Panel has a jog function, a cycle timer, an emergency stop pushbutton, and a 4″ color touch screen interface for observing and managing blender operations.

For easier installation and startup, the control system comes wired and affixed to the blender.

Ross V-Cone Blenders are utilized in many different industries, such as food, composites, and coatings, where consistency is crucial.

They are designed for applications that call for a gentle yet thorough mixing process. The blenders create a cascade movement that continuously exposes and redistributes materials by rotating a V-shaped vessel along its horizontal axis.

According to the manufacturer, this low-impact tumbling action works well for materials with large variations in particle size and density, trace components, or friable foods. It may also be used for cereal and spice blends.

Since 1842, ROSS has been producing industrial mixing, blending, drying, and dispersion equipment used in the manufacture of various commodities including food, cosmetics, personal care products, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and others.

As an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), ROSS is able to offer both standard and specially made mixers to satisfy a variety of processing requirements.

With state-of-the-art engineering and manufacturing technology, ROSS equipment is created and produced in company-owned facilities in China, India, and the United States. The company includes an 8,000-square-foot Test & Development Center and five manufacturing plants in the United States.
