The acquisition brings together Brace’s regional heritage and brand recognition with BPO’s growing experience of investing in British food businesses, including its recent acquisition of Roberts Bakery in 2025.

UK – Boparan Private Office (BPO), the private investment arm of 2 Sisters Food Group owner Ranjit Singh Boparan, has completed the acquisition of Newport-based Brace’s Bakery, rescuing one of Wales’ most recognizable bakery brands from the brink of administration and closure.
A fourth-generation family business dating back to 1902, Brace’s Bakery supplies bread, rolls and bakery products to major retailers and independent stores across Wales and the West of England.
The acquisition, for an undisclosed amount, saves approximately 250 jobs.
In October 2025, the bakery announced it was facing “difficult headwinds over the last few months in a challenging market,” citing a significant decline in overall volumes over the last year.
Days before the deal was concluded, staff who were due to be made redundant received only half of their May wages, signalling the possible collapse of the long-established business.
The company had also been forced to close its Blackwood factory as pressures mounted.
Under the terms of the transaction, BPO has assumed majority ownership through Roberts Bakery 1887 Limited, an entity created during BPO’s previous acquisition of the Cheshire-based Roberts Bakery, which was under similar financial strain last October.
Fourth-generation directors Jonathan Brace and his brother Mark have been terminated from their director positions, with Amber Rei Holdings CEO Robert Rafferty appointed as director.
Amber Rei Holdings operates within the Boparan Private Office portfolio, serving as the acquiring entity for strategic food and agricultural investments.
Ranjit Singh Boparan expressed confidence in the brand’s future.
“Brace’s is an iconic brand with a rich heritage, and we are delighted to have been able to reach an agreement to step in and preserve this business, while helping to take it into a new era through investment, innovation and modernization,” he said.
Ranjit Singh Boparan, President of Boparan Private Office and founder of the multi-billion-pound 2 Sisters Food Group, emphasized his commitment to modernizing the iconic regional brand.
BPO plans to inject significant capital into the business to drive product innovation, enhance manufacturing efficiencies, and optimize customer delivery routes.
By integrating Brace’s into its extensive agricultural and food manufacturing portfolio, which generates annual revenues exceeding £4 billion, the investment firm aims to build a sustainable commercial model capable of navigating the highly competitive UK grocery sector.
