AUSTRIA – Anton Paar, a global leader in high-precision laboratory instrumentation and specialized metrology, has announced a significant expansion of its industrial processing portfolio.
The company launched the Brabender TwinLab B-TSE-S 30/40, a cutting-edge, pilot-scale twin-screw extruder.
This strategic product launch is designed to bridge the structural gap between initial laboratory-scale ingredient development and full commercial-scale manufacturing.
It enables research teams to validate critical processing parameters and produce commercial quantities under high-precision monitoring.
This technology rollout builds on Anton Paar’s previous strategic acquisition of the 100-year-old German extrusion and rheology pioneer, Brabender, which now operates as a specialized brand under the Anton Paar corporate umbrella.
The new pilot-scale machine delivers an impressive processing throughput of up to 100 kilograms per hour, making it well-suited for process engineers working across the food, animal feed, plastics, and alternative protein sectors.
Despite its high capacity, the system features an integrated drive mechanism, making it the most compact industrial extruder in its performance class.
Engineered for intense industrial processing, the co-rotating twin screws are powered by a 39-kilowatt drive system.
It can safely generate up to 150 Newton-meters of torque per screw while operating under extreme conditions, reaching up to 450 degrees Celsius and 300 bar of pressure.
To maximize operational efficiency and prevent cross-contamination between product runs, the extruder incorporates an automated clamshell barrel that opens at the touch of a button.
This setup gives technicians instant physical access to the interior liner inserts for rapid cleaning, inspection, and modular screw reconfiguration without requiring a complete machinery teardown.
According to the company’s technical statements, the system is fully integrated with Anton Paar’s proprietary MetaBridge software.
This interface monitors, captures, and visualizes essential variables including processing torque, temperature, pressure profile, screw speed, and dynamic throughput.
The TwinLab B-TSE-S 30/40 also features an integrated engineering interface for software-based configuration of input and output.
Anton Paar said this allows users to adapt sensors, feeders and downstream components without hardware modifications, supporting changing development needs.

Process visibility and control are managed through Anton Paar’s MetaBridge software, which records and visualizes key parameters including torque, temperature, pressure, screw speed and throughput.
The company said this allows for efficient trial comparison, standardized reporting and data-driven decision-making.
The TwinLab B-TSE-S 30/40 is designed to support food product development, small-batch production and scale-up to larger operations through its compact design, flexible configuration and process data capabilities.
