Agthia, Bühler launch food production academy in UAE

The new academy will train Emirati entrepreneurs, operators and food industry specialists in milling, baking and production.

UAEAgthia Group PJSC has launched the Agthia Academy powered by Bühler, a training platform created to help Emirati entrepreneurs, operators and future specialists gain skills in food manufacturing.

The academy will offer training in milling, baking and production through classroom lessons, practical technical sessions and international exposure. Agthia and Bühler will run the program at Agthia’s facilities in Abu Dhabi and Bühler’s training centers in Switzerland.

The move supports the UAE’s wider food security plans and comes as food manufacturers face growing pressure to improve quality, efficiency and production standards.

“The academy reflects our firm belief that the future of the UAE’s food sector will be built on the strength of its people,” said Salmeen Alameri, managing director and chief executive officer of Agthia Group. “We are creating a practical pathway that empowers Emirati talent to access global best practices and apply them with confidence, improving consistency, productivity and operational excellence.”

Alameri said the academy links learning with practical work and measurable results, while also supporting the country’s long-term food security plans.

Heiko Feuring, president at Bühler for Middle East, Africa and India, said the company sees skills development as a key part of the food industry’s future.

“Through our partnership with Agthia, the Academy provides Emirati entrepreneurs, operators and specialists with access to advanced technologies, modern production practices and deep industry expertise,” Feuring said. “By combining world-class training with practical application, we are helping to develop a skilled workforce capable of driving innovation, efficiency, and sustainability across the UAE’s food sector.”

The academy will also work with leading UAE institutions, including United Arab Emirates University, Zayed University and Abu Dhabi Hospitality Academy Les Roches. The partnerships aim to help universities strengthen industry training and prepare students for jobs in the food sector.

Agthia Group, which is based in Abu Dhabi, operates across seven countries and exports to more than 60 markets.

The launch follows another major training investment by Bühler last year. In June 2025, the company opened a new 1,800-square-meter Milling Academy at its headquarters in Uzwil, Switzerland, to help address the global milling skills gap.

The facility includes high-tech classrooms, laboratories, a fully automated school mill with a 24-tonne-per-day capacity, and direct access to Bühler’s Grain Innovation Center.

“With the opening of our new, state-of-the-art Milling Academy, we are empowering the next generation of milling professionals by offering advanced training, hands-on experience, and access to the latest technologies,” said Stefan Birrer, head of business area milling solutions at Bühler Group.
