The new flavor aims to offer consumers a fresh, craveworthy option that reflects the lively and bold spirit of New Orleans.

USA – Utz Brands’ Zapp’s, the New Orleans-born snack brand known for its daring flavor profiles and kettle-cooked crunch, has launched a new addition to its lineup: Bayou Blackened Ranch Kettle Chips.
This latest release blends Cajun-style blackened seasoning with zesty ranch, delivering a snack that captures the soul of Louisiana in every bite.
Crafted from thick-cut potatoes and kettle-cooked to perfection, the chips offer a bold, smoky flavor with tangy undertones, and homage to the region’s rich culinary heritage.
The blackened seasoning features a medley of paprika, garlic, cayenne, and herbs, while the ranch adds a creamy, acidic twist that balances the heat.
Bayou Blackened Ranch joins Zapp’s range of distinctive flavors including Voodoo®, Spicy Cajun Crawtators®, Big Cheezy®, Salt & Vinegar, Cajun Dill Gator-tators®, and Mesquite Bar-B-Que.

Stacey Schultz, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Utz Quality Foods, a subsidiary of Utz Brands, Inc., shared that the brand sought to elevate a classic recipe by turning up the heat and flavor complexity.
“With our new Bayou Blackened Ranch chips, we took a classic recipe and turned it up a notch to introduce a snacking experience that’s unmistakably Zapp’s and bursting with New Orleans flavor,” said Schultz.
The chips are available in three sizes: 1.5, 2.5, and 8-ounce bags, and can be found at major grocery, convenience, and mass retailers across the U.S., as well as online through the Utz’s website.
Early reviews have praised the chips for their “nice crunch” and “refreshing twist” on traditional ranch, with some fans even calling it Zapp’s “new king” flavor, rivaling cult favorites like Spicy Cajun Crawtators and Voodoo.
Others noted its resemblance to the brand’s retired Sour Cream and Creole Onion flavor, but with a spicier, more acidic edge.
The launch aligns with Zapp’s strategy of flavor-forward innovation in the premium snack sector, tapping into consumer demand for regional authenticity and bold taste experiences.
With the U.S. premium snack market valued at US$49.8 billion in 2025, Zapp’s continues to carve out space with its unapologetically Southern identity and adventurous palate.
