Tandem Foods launches new wafer production line

USA – Tandem Foods, a leading contract manufacturer specializing in better-for-you snacks, has officially launched its first wafer bar production line at its new manufacturing facility in Cypress, California, marking a major milestone in the company’s growth strategy.

The new line expands Tandem’s wafer bar capacity by over 150%, positioning it as the largest wafer manufacturer in the United States.

The investment reflects Tandem’s commitment to scaling its better-for-you snack portfolio, which includes baked, extruded, and cold-slab bars, chocolate moulding, cookies, fruit bars, and granola.

CEO Michael Buick described the investment as a direct response to the sustained growth of strategic partners and a robust pipeline of new business.

A standout feature of the wafer production line is its advanced baking technology designed for sustainability.

The Cypress site is Tandem’s first new facility since its formation in January 2025, following the merger of TruFood Manufacturing and Bar Bakers LLC.

The merger brought together eight U.S. manufacturing plants, with four located in California, three in Pittsburgh, and one on Long Island, New York, under a unified brand focused on operational excellence and innovation.

The facility was designed with future expansion in mind, offering space for additional production lines to support long-term growth.

The inaugural line will serve both existing strategic partners and new clients, ensuring supply chain resilience and responsiveness in a competitive market.

Tandem’s expansion comes amid rising consumer demand for nutritious, indulgent snacks that balance taste, texture, and health.

Wafer bars, with their layered crunch and customizable formats, are gaining popularity among brands seeking to differentiate themselves in the crowded snack aisle.
