Silos Spain Group expands grain storage capacities in Bolivia and Chile

LATIN AMERICA – Silos Spain Group, a global leader in the design, manufacturing, and installation of cutting-edge storage solutions for the agri-food sector, has recently celebrated two significant achievements in Latin America, underscoring its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence.

In Bolivia, the company has finalized the first phase of a 60,000-ton soybean storage facility. This facility, now fully operational, boasts an impressive storage capacity of 60,000 tons, distributed across six silos, each with a volume of 17,900 m³.

According to the company, the facility incorporates advanced technology to ensure optimal grain management. It features an integrated receiving and unloading system, a cleaning process to remove impurities, and a drying system that maintains moisture levels within the ideal range.

Additionally, a ventilation and temperature control system has been installed to prevent spoilage, while specialized handling equipment ensures smooth internal movement of grains. This storage plant is a strategic investment that supports the country’s soybean industry by improving efficiency and preserving grain quality during storage.

In Chile, Silos Spain Group has reinforced its reputation for excellence by completing the installation of a state-of-the-art 4,000-ton wheat silo at Alisur’s facility.

Designed to withstand seismic activity, this model complies with international safety standards, ensuring the protection of stored grains even in the event of an earthquake. The structure is built using ProMag-coated steel, an advanced aluminium-magnesium-zinc alloy that significantly enhances durability and corrosion resistance.

This innovation not only extends the lifespan of the silo but also minimizes environmental impact by reducing zinc consumption.

The Chilean facility also features advanced monitoring systems that optimize storage conditions. Equipped with high-precision level detectors, efficient ventilation grids, and a modern temperature control system, the silo ensures that wheat is stored under optimal conditions.

Additionally, the grain handling system incorporates high-capacity chain conveyors capable of transporting up to 150 tons per hour, along with automated intake and discharge hoppers. These enhancements improve operational efficiency, reduce losses, and streamline grain management.

By delivering these advanced storage solutions in Bolivia and Chile, Silos Spain Group continues to push the boundaries of innovation in grain storage.
