
SRI LANKA – Serendib Flour Mills Ltd. (SFML) has joined hands with the Plantation Human Development Trust (PHDT), to launch ‘Serendib Adhi Shakti Fortified Wheat Flour’ – a micronutrient-fortified wheat flour tailored for the nutritional needs of estate communities.
The official launch ceremony took place on November 15, 2023, at the Araliya Green City Hotel, Nuwara Eliya, graced by distinguished guests, including Mr. Barath Arulsamy (Chairman PHDT), Mr. L. R. Perera (Director General PHDT), and Senior Leadership of Serendib Flour Mills.
In addition, the event witnessed the presence of CEOs Directors, and managers of Regional Plantation Companies (RPC’s), emphasizing the collaborative approach to community health.
Celebrating on its LinkedIn page, the company underscored that the fortified flour is designed to combat micronutrient deficiencies and address Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) prevalent in the Sri Lankan Estate community.

Adhi Shakthi wheat flour contains essential nutrients such as Iron, Folic Acid, and Vitamin B12, a significant initiative to align with Serendib’s unwavering commitment to “Nourishing the Nation.”
The product has been developed in response to widespread micronutrient deficiencies and the increasing incidence of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) within Sri Lanka’s estate community.
The prevalence of anemia and folate deficiencies among the plantation communities is a well-known fact due to the lack of a balanced diet among these communities.
Thus, Adhi Shakthi is poised to significantly improve the nutritional well-being of the estate community, contributing to the overall health and vitality of the area.
