PepsiCo Doritos expands flavor portfolio in India with international taste sensations

PepsiCo has begun local production of its popular nacho chip brand, Doritos, at its manufacturing facility in Kolkata, India.

INDIA – PepsiCo, an American multinational food, snack, and beverage corporation, has introduced two of its globally popular Doritos variants, Cool Ranch and Jalapeño Salsa Mexicana, to the Indian market through its PepsiCo brand.

PepsiCo has initiated local production of its popular nacho chip brand, Doritos, at its manufacturing facility in Kolkata, India, marking a significant step in its commitment to expanding its presence in the country.

Doritos is expanding its India-specific portfolio, building on popular flavours such as Nacho Cheese, Masala Mayhem, and Sweet Chilli, with a new release aimed at meeting rising consumer demand for internationally influenced snacking experiences.

PepsiCo’s move to introduce two globally inspired flavours into the Indian market reflects shifting consumer tastes, where shoppers increasingly seek bold, complex flavour profiles with international appeal, yet continue to value products that resonate with familiar, local preferences.

Cool Ranch delivers a fusion of smooth, creamy notes with herbal undertones, while Jalapeño Salsa Mexicana brings a fiery chilli kick.

Both flavours are designed to resonate with Indian taste preferences, all while preserving Doritos’ signature crunch and bold bite.

To promote the launch, Doritos has unveiled a thrilling digital campaign. This campaign, featuring a dramatic, movie-style montage of our chip-making process, playfully disrupted by enthusiastic fans itching to grab a pack.

Doritos’ short films are not just a marketing tool, but a means to spark interaction with younger consumers. By leveraging social media platforms like Instagram, Doritos is improving engagement and increasing its brand visibility among the tech-savvy generation.

“India’s snacking landscape is evolving rapidly, driven by consumers who seek flavours that are adventurous yet familiar, a reflection of their expanding global outlook,” said Aastha Bhasin, Category Lead, Doritos, PepsiCo India.

“With the introduction of Cool Ranch and Jalapeño Salsa Mexicana, two of Doritos’ most celebrated global profiles, we’re responding to this growing appetite by bringing iconic, globally loved flavours to India.”

Doritos’ latest flavour variants have landed in metropolitan markets across modern trade outlets, online shopping platforms, and quick-commerce channels.

Priced at ₹20 (US$0.23) and ₹50 (US$0.5), these premium launches are strategically crafted to boost the brand’s presence in India’s dynamic snack food arena and capture a wider share of the expanding nacho chip segment.
