Obial launches high-tech licensed warehousing facility in Samsun, Türkiye

TÜRKIYE – Obial, a leading brand of Altuntaş Group of Companies, has unveiled its state-of-the-art licensed warehousing facility in the Samsun Basin, offering a 40,000-tonne capacity equipped with modern technologies.

Strategically positioned in the Central Black Sea Region, this investment is set to significantly benefit both local farmers and the regional economy while enhancing Türkiye’s grain trade infrastructure.

The new facility utilizes 12 DT-1822 flat-bottom silos, which are engineered for high durability and the safe storage of grains. Supporting these silos are two 70-tonne truck loading silos that streamline the efficient transportation of stored products.

The integration of advanced transport equipment, capable of handling 150 tonnes per hour, ensures swift and seamless operations, offering valuable time savings for farmers and businesses alike.

The facility’s infrastructure reflects a commitment to sustainability and longevity. The use of Magnelis-coated sheets, which offer five times more corrosion resistance compared to traditional galvanized sheets, enhances the durability of the silos.

Furthermore, energy-efficient Aemot electric motors minimize energy consumption, reducing operational costs while promoting environmental responsibility.

Designed to store grains such as wheat, bran, and various flours used in bread, phyllo dough, and pancakes, the facility preserves the quality of these raw materials over extended periods. This ensures reliable supply chains for food producers, supporting Türkiye’s growing food industry.

Additionally, the facility is strategically located on the main highway and railway that connect Central Anatolia, the Aegean, Mediterranean, and Marmara regions, cementing Samsun as a vital trade and logistics hub.

Known as the gateway to the Black Sea, Samsun’s geographical advantage supports domestic and international trade, particularly for wheat and other key agricultural products.

The new facility aligns with Türkiye’s licensed warehousing system, providing farmers in the region with much-needed storage solutions and trading opportunities.

Modern laboratories at the facility ensure accurate quality and class determinations for agricultural products, while warehouse receipts allow farmers to trade more competitively in both local and international markets.

The project, which commenced in autumn 2023 and was completed in spring 2024, created direct and indirect employment opportunities.

Now fully operational, the facility offers permanent job opportunities, contributing to social welfare and accelerating economic development in Samsun and surrounding areas.
