Mondelēz International expands Zbar portfolio with new kids snacking innovations

Designed for active kids and made with quality ingredients such as organic oats, the new innovations are aimed at helping provide fuel for kids to explore and play.

USAMondelēz International has officially announced a major expansion of its kid-focused snacking portfolio under the Zbar brand, unveiling two major product innovations designed to capture the growing on-the-go nutrition market.

The multi-product rollout introduces an entirely new, bite-sized product architecture called Zbar Oat Bites, alongside a new Strawberries ‘n Creme addition to the established Zbar Protein crispy snack bar lineup.

The primary structural innovation in this launch is the Zbar Oat Bites, which represents the brand’s first venture away from traditional, single-serve bar formats into portioned, multi-bite packaging.

Developed specifically to bring variety to children’s daily snack routines, the Oat Bites are crafted with 14 grams of whole grains per serving and are USDA Certified Organic.

Mondelēz is launching this poppable format in two of the brand’s most commercially successful flavor profiles: Chocolate Chip, which incorporates organic chocolate chunks into a whole-grain oat base, and Iced Oatmeal Cookie, featuring a distinct vanilla and cinnamon glaze coating.

Simultaneously, Mondelēz is strengthening its functional, macro-conscious product assortment by introducing the Zbar Protein Strawberries ‘n Creme flavored snack bar.

Specifically engineered to support active, growing bodies during sports practices and long road trips, each crispy bar delivers 5 grams of dairy and plant-based protein.

The recipe relies heavily on organic whole oats and real fruit inclusions to achieve a balanced, sweet flavor profile without relying on the high-intensity artificial sweeteners often found in adult-targeted protein snacks.

Valerie Van Arkel, Director of Marketing for Zbar at Mondelēz International, highlighted the strategic intent behind the double product launch, stating that kids possess an inherent appetite for daily exploration that requires reliable fuel.

She noted that the new Oat Bites format was deliberately engineered to minimize mess and maximize portability as families head into a busy season of summer activities and outdoor play, giving parents an option they can feel confident choosing.

The Zbar brand, originally developed under the CLIF Bar umbrella, became a key component of the Mondelēz global snacking architecture following the corporate acquisition.

Both new product lines have already commenced their commercial rollouts at major mass-market retailers, grocery channels, and natural food stores nationwide in the United States.

Mondelēz has established a suggested retail price of US$6.49 for both configurations, distributing the Zbar Oat Bites in structured 6-packs and the Zbar Protein Strawberries ‘n Creme bars in convenient 5-count multi-packs.
