Mondelēz’ Clif Bar unveils new caffeinated energy bar line

This range is designed to help consumers jump start their activities with a boost of caffeine included in every bar.

US – Mondelēz International’s Clif Bar brand has introduced a new line of caffeinated energy bars in the U.S. called the Caffeinated Collection.

Developed in collaboration with professional women’s basketball player Breanna Stewart and tennis star Frances Tiafoe, the collection features two new flavours: Vanilla Almond and Caramel Chocolate Chip.

Clif Bar is well-known for its snack-sized bars, all made with whole ingredients. These bars contain phosphorus to promote a steady release of energy, along with protein and fiber.

Each Caffeinated Collection energy bar is formulated with organic, non-GMO rolled oats and provides 10 grams of plant-based protein.

Additionally, each bar contains about 65 mg of organic, non-GMO caffeine, equivalent to one shot of espresso.

“Working alongside Frances Tiafoe and Breanna Stewart on the Clif Bar Caffeinated Collection gave us valuable insights that propelled the development process and helped us create a functional yet delicious energy bar,” said Michael De La Cruz, the R&D lead for this new range.

He emphasized that, given Clif Bar’s long-standing commitment to supporting runners, climbers, athletes, and active individuals, every step of the manufacturing process was carefully designed to craft fuel that helps power the most ambitious endeavours.

Clif Bar Caffeinated Collection energy bars are available at retailers across the U.S., with a suggested retail price of US$1.99 per bar or US$7.49 for a five-pack.

Clif Bar & Company is an American producer of energy foods and drinks. Its flagship product, the Clif Bar, was created by Gary Erickson and Lisa Thomas.

The company, based in Emeryville, California, remained privately held until 2022, when it was acquired by Mondelez International for US$2.9 billion.

This acquisition has expanded Mondelēz International’s global snack bar business to over $1 billion, with leading brands such as CLIF®, CLIF Kid®, and LUNA® complementing the company’s refrigerated snacking business, Perfect Snacks in the U.S., and its prominent performance nutrition business, Grenade, in the U.K.

In addition to its signature original Clif Bar, the company offers a variety of energy bars tailored to women, children, and other markets, as well as sports drinks and fruit-based items like fruit ropes.

In 2014, Clif Bar introduced four gel-like squeezable “energy foods,” which were expanded in early 2016 to include six flavours. All products utilize organic ingredients, with seventy percent of the ingredients sourced being certified organic.
