Mennel Milling completes acquisition of Mondelez International’s Toledo flour mill

The acquisition solidifies Mennel’s standing as a leading flour producer in the US and strengthens its ability to meet growing customer demand across the region.

USA – Mennel Milling Company has completed the acquisition of the Toledo Flour Mill from Mondelez International, marking a significant expansion for the family-owned milling business.

Located in East Toledo, Ohio, this historic facility is one of the largest flour mills in the United States, with a production capacity of up to 4 million pounds of soft wheat flour per day.

The acquisition solidifies Mennel’s standing as a leading flour producer in the US and strengthens its ability to meet growing customer demand across the region.

The Toledo Flour Mill, with a century-long legacy in wheat milling, will continue to supply flour to Mondelez under Mennel’s ownership, ensuring continuity for existing customers.

Alongside this, the mill will enable Mennel to expand the distribution of its high-quality flour and grain-based products into new markets.

The facility is equipped with advanced blending, testing, and grading systems, making it well-positioned for both operational excellence and future growth.

D. Ford Mennel, president and CEO of Mennel Milling, expressed pride in welcoming the Toledo Flour Mill’s skilled workforce to the company and emphasized that the acquisition demonstrates Mennel’s long-term commitment to strategic growth.

He highlighted the importance of investing in products and services to meet the evolving needs of customers and partners alike.

This acquisition also reflects Mennel’s strategy to bolster its supply chain capabilities amid fluctuating agricultural conditions and an increasingly competitive milling sector.

By incorporating the Toledo facility, Mennel gains enhanced production capacity for soft wheat flour, which is widely used in baking and food manufacturing industries.

The acquisition makes Mennel Milling the fourth-largest milling company in the United States, giving it a stronger competitive position and scale to drive innovation in flour products.

The combined expertise and resources of both companies are expected to foster stability, operational efficiency, and sustainable growth for Mennel while preserving the Toledo Flour Mill’s heritage and reputation.

The acquisition aligns perfectly with Mennel’s mission to deliver top-tier flour and grain ingredients to customers while supporting the agricultural and industrial communities in Ohio and beyond.

The company’s expanded footprint and production capabilities position it well for future success in the dynamic food supply landscape.
