The latest addition to Skips offers a satisfying, zingy flavour while delivering its iconic light and melty texture that consumers have come to expect from the brand.

UK – KP Snacks has announced the return of Skips Salt & Vinegar, expanding the brand’s core lineup and tapping into consumer demand for familiar, tangy flavours across the crisps, snacks and nuts category
The Salt & Vinegar variant will be available from the beginning of March in a 35g Grab Bag and a £1.35 (US$1.81) price‑marked pack (PMP), marking the flavour’s first national reappearance in about a decade.
The relaunch aims to broaden Skips’ appeal beyond its signature Prawn Cocktail offering by reintroducing a flavour profile that ranks among the top partitions in the category.
This move taps into surging demand for classic flavours in the crisps, snacks, and nuts (CSN) category, where Salt & Vinegar ranks as the fourth-largest segment, blending nostalgia with the brand’s signature light, melty texture.
The latest addition to the Skips portfolio offers a satisfying, zingy flavour while also delivering the iconic light and melty texture that consumers expect from the brand.
The move reflects wider market trends where established snack brands are refreshing heritage flavours to drive trial and incremental sales.
The zingy variant capitalizes on the 70% of bagged snacks sales driven by on-the-go purchases.
John McDougall, Senior Brand Manager for Skips, emphasized the strategic fit: “Skips is a classic and iconic brand in CSN, and we’re excited to extend our flavour lineup with this tongue-tingling Salt & Vinegar variant, building on strong heritage while attracting new customers.”
The relaunch aligns with rising Food to Go trends, boosting retailer sales through value-driven PMPs and portable Grab Bags perfect for lunch grabs or post-work treats.
This innovation reflects broader shifts in the UK snack sector, where impulse buys dominate and nostalgia fuels growth, as evidenced by recent comebacks of other discontinued crisps flavours across brands.
With robust distribution through wholesalers and independents, KP aims to elevate Skips’ market share in a category growing at 4-5% annually, per industry scans such as NielsenIQ data through late 2025.
Retailers from Nisa to independents stand to benefit from eye-catching displays promoting the “new zing,” potentially driving category uplifts in high-traffic forecourts and corner shops.
As British snacking evolves with health-conscious tweaks on the horizon, this Salt & Vinegar revival underscores KP’s agility in balancing indulgence and familiarity.
