USA – Heidelberg Bread Company, a renowned artisan bakery company based in Fly Creek, New York, has advanced its bakery automation capabilities through a strategic partnership with Bradman Lake, a leading global manufacturer of packaging machinery.
This collaboration marks a significant step in optimizing Heidelberg’s packaging and slicing operations, enhancing efficiency and flexibility across its production lines.
Heidelberg placed a second order in early 2025 for advanced slicing and bagging equipment, reinforcing its commitment to innovation in the baked goods sector.

The latest investment includes an LB90 standalone reciprocating slicer and a hand-fed IBPRO Bun Bagger, complementing the initial 2020 purchase of two LB90 slicers and two IBPRO Bread Baggers.
These machines are designed to streamline the packaging of tinned and free-bake bread, offering high-speed performance with minimal crumb loss and downtime.
The LB90 slicer features a modular blade system that allows for adjustable slice thickness and whole loaf bagging, while the IBPRO baggers deliver 24/7 reliability with ergonomic controls and automatic bag changes.

Daniel Bissell, Vice President of the Heidelberg Group, praised Bradman Lake’s equipment for exceeding expectations in terms of automation and flexibility.
“Their systems offer outstanding automation and flexibility to handle a variety of bread and bun sizes, along with a modular design that supports easy integration and scalability,” said Bissell.
“Our experience with the first order was excellent, including a smooth and successful virtual Factory Acceptance Test (FAT).”
The new equipment enhances Heidelberg’s ability to manage excess production and adapt quickly to changing market demands.
The hand-fed IBPRO Bun Bagger provides a practical solution for handling overflow from main bread lines, ensuring consistent quality and packaging speed.
This expansion underscores Heidelberg Group’s broader strategy to modernize its bakery operations and meet rising consumer expectations for quality and consistency.
By integrating Bradman Lake’s cutting-edge technology, the company is positioning itself to scale production while maintaining artisanal standards.
As the bakery industry faces increasing pressure to optimize operations and reduce waste, Heidelberg’s investment signals a forward-thinking approach to automation.
The partnership with Bradman Lake not only strengthens Heidelberg’s production capabilities but also sets a benchmark for innovation in the global baking sector.
