The launch of Reese’s Puffs Dark Chocolate comes at a time when the cereal market is witnessing a shift towards premium and indulgent flavours.

USA – Reese’s Puffs cereal is breaking new ground with the launch of its first-ever Dark Chocolate Naturally Flavored variety, a significant expansion beyond the classic milk chocolate flavor that has defined the brand since 1994.
This new flavor blends rich Hershey’s dark chocolate with Reese’s peanut butter, offering a deeper, more cocoa-forward twist on the beloved peanut butter-and-chocolate combo.
The introduction of Reese’s Puffs Dark Chocolate is meant to complement, not replace, the original milk chocolate version, offering consumers an alternative that enhances the cereal experience.
Megan Brooks, business unit director at General Mills, highlighted that dark chocolate’s growing popularity and the trend of consuming Reese’s Puffs beyond breakfast inspired this move.
She noted that the new flavor delivers a richer chocolate taste that fits well with late-night snacking or anytime indulgence.
To celebrate the launch, General Mills collaborated with brand design agency Vault49 to create a special “Reese’s After Dark” universe on the back of the package.
This design features neon-themed visuals, hidden Easter eggs such as UFO-shaped Reese’s cups, and secret messages, offering an immersive and bold packaging experience that echoes the intensity of the dark chocolate flavor inside.
Over its 30-plus years, Reese’s Puffs has maintained its core identity with peanut butter and milk chocolate flavors, occasionally introducing variants like peanut butter-only or holiday-themed shapes.
However, this new dark chocolate edition marks the first time the chocolate component has been swapped for a darker, bolder profile, expanding the brand’s flavor portfolio and appealing to a broader range of chocolate lovers.
Reese’s Puffs Dark Chocolate Naturally Flavored cereal is expected to be available in stores nationwide by the end of the month, ensuring that loyal fans and new customers alike can experience the iconic peanut butter and chocolate combination with a fresh twist.
The launch positions Reese’s Puffs firmly in the competitive breakfast and snacking categories, capturing consumers seeking indulgent yet recognizable flavors.
