The new state-of-the-art plant marks a significant expansion of the company’s manufacturing footprint in India and reinforces its long-term commitment to serving the fast-growing food and bakery sector.

INDIA – General Mills India, a key player in the nation’s bakery sector under the global Fortune 500 giant, has inaugurated its second state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Nashik, Maharashtra, with an investment of INR 100 crore (US$11.02 million).
The plant ramps up production of Pillsbury baking mixes, flours, and premixes, cementing the brand’s leadership since entering India in 1999.
Nashik’s strategic location, robust logistics, and food-processing ecosystem make it ideal for this expansion, enabling supply chain optimization to slash lead times and boost nationwide availability for thousands of bakeries.
Built with cutting-edge technology and global standards, the facility prioritizes food safety, quality, and sustainable resource use, aligning with India’s booming US$10 billion organized bakery market, which is growing at a 12% CAGR.

Pillsbury empowers small bakeries and foodservice outlets with consistent, convenient products for cakes, breads, and pastries, fueling their growth amid urbanization and rising disposable incomes.
The plant creates direct and indirect jobs in manufacturing, logistics, and services, while spurring local suppliers through demand for raw materials in Maharashtra’s agrarian hub.
“We’re extremely proud to increase the availability of Pillsbury products across the country with the opening of our new plant in Nashik,” said Balki Radhakrishnan, Vice President and Managing Director of Global Emerging Markets at General Mills.
“Since 1999, our Pillsbury brand has been offering delicious, quality and convenient baking mixes in India. This expansion allows us to better, faster, and at greater scale serve our consumers and bakery partners.
This follows a prior Nashik plant and underscores General Mills’ long-term commitment to India, where it eyes premium, indulgent trends.
The company indicated that the facility will work closely with existing Nashik operations to optimize production planning and distribution, while continuing to serve bakery partners, foodservice operators and retail channels across India.
The new plant represents a commitment to the region’s economic prosperity and a strategic move further to embed Pillsbury within India’s evolving culinary landscape.
Nashik’s new powerhouse positions General Mills to capture a larger share of India’s artisanal-to-industrial bakery surge.
