ForFarmers, Team Agrar finalize German feed joint venture

GERMANY – ForFarmers and Team Agrar, a subsidiary of the DLG Group, have officially completed the formation of their joint venture, ForFarmers Team Agrar, following the announcement made on September 4, 2024.

The companies confirmed that all necessary conditions for the transaction, including approval from the local competition authority, have been met.

By consolidating their expertise and resources, the ForFarmers team agrar is expected to strengthen its market position and operational efficiency within Germany’s feed sector.

The newly established joint venture is structured as a 50/50 partnership. It will include the feed activities and employees from both companies’ respective operations in Germany, with approximately 250 employees from ForFarmers and 130 employees from Team Agrar.

The collaboration builds upon a relationship between ForFarmers and Team Agrar through their joint venture HaBeMa. Based in Hamburg, HaBeMa focuses on trading, storing, and producing raw materials and compound feed.

Together, the venture will manage eight feed production sites, three terminals, and a dedicated vehicle fleet. HaBeMa, with its 130 employees, will also be integrated into this new structure. The strategic partnership aims to create new growth opportunities, leverage combined strengths, and improve profitability for both parties.

The decision to expand their cooperation into a broader feed business is seen as a logical next step in response to the increasing demands of the German agricultural industry.

ForFarmers is a leading European company that specializes in livestock feed solutions and has established a diverse portfolio of feed products catering to all major livestock species in Germany.

Team Agrar, on the other hand, brings its expertise across various agricultural sectors. In addition to producing compound feed, the company is involved in grain collection and trading, as well as providing seeds, fertilizers, plant protection products, and specialized agricultural services.

Ernst Friedlaender (ForFarmers), Markus Green (Team Agr), and Jes-Christian Hansen (HaBeMa) will manage the joint venture while Friedlaender will serve as managing director.

However, certain activities will remain outside the agreement’s scope. ForFarmers’ Thesing, Pavo, Reudink, CirQlar, and Vleuten brands, along with Team Agrar’s non-feed-related activities such as organic feed, construction, and energy, will not be part of the new joint venture.
