EGYPT – The Egyptian Swiss Group for Pasta, Milling, and Concentrates has reported a remarkable 38% growth in flour exports during 2024, generating US$40 million in revenue.
This impressive performance has secured the group a 10% share of Egypt’s total flour exports, positioning it as a key player in the global flour market. The company’s growth rate surpasses the national average for flour export growth, highlighting its competitive edge.
Eng. Ahmed El-Sebai, General Manager of the Egyptian Swiss Group, attributed this success to surging demand from regional markets, particularly Sudan.
According to Ahmed, the company’s partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP) to supply flour to Gaza also played a pivotal role in boosting exports. Additionally, Somalia has emerged as a significant growth market for the group’s products.
Expanding beyond traditional markets, the company has, for the first time, ventured into South America, Syria, Iraq, and the UAE, underscoring the company’s strategic focus on diversifying its market presence and strengthening its global footprint.
Egyptian Swiss currently operates at 60% of its flour production capacity. However, the company has plans to increase its operational rates to meet rising global demand.
With exports reaching approximately 40 countries, the group has demonstrated its ability to achieve widespread international reach and expand its market share.
In the broader context, Egypt’s total flour and groats exports grew by 11% in 2024, reaching US$464 million. Flour exports alone accounted for US$450 million of this figure.
The group is committed to continuous investment in the milling and packaging sector to enhance production quality and meet international standards.
According Ahmed, efforts are underway to upgrade production lines and improve operational efficiency, ensuring the company can cater to the evolving demands of diverse markets.
Looking ahead, Eng. Ahmed El-Sebai emphasized the company’s dedication to executing its growth and expansion strategy.
By focusing on quality enhancement and maintaining competitive positioning, the Egyptian Swiss Group aims to support Egypt’s economy and further boost export revenues for the milling sector. These efforts reflect the company’s ongoing commitment to becoming a leading global player in the flour industry.
