CHS, Inc. named among world’s most ethical companies

USACHS, Inc., the largest farmer-owned cooperative and a leading global agribusiness in the United States, has been recognized for the first time as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere, a renowned international business development service.

This prestigious honor highlights CHS’s commitment to ethical business practices, integrity, and governance.

CHS is one of only nine companies honored in the food, beverage, and agriculture category, standing out among 136 honorees across 19 countries and 44 industries.

The 2025 recognition celebrates organizations that demonstrate exceptional dedication to ethics, compliance, and governance, setting a standard for corporate responsibility worldwide.

With 230 grain storage facilities and a total licensed grain storage capacity of 403 million bushels, CHS is recognized as the second-largest grain handler in North America, according to Sosland Publishing Co.’s 2024 Grain & Milling Annual.

This distribution reflects the cooperative’s commitment to its member-owners and underscores its role in bolstering rural America’s agricultural sector.

In fiscal year 2024, the company’s agronomy, grains, foods, and energy businesses generated revenues of approximately US$39 billion.

At the heart of CHS’s ethical framework is its “CHS Code of Conduct,” which serves as a guiding principle for employees, offering a roadmap for making ethical decisions. The company’s culture encourages employees to voice concerns when actions or decisions conflict with the cooperative’s values or the code of conduct.

“This recognition reinforces our commitment to working with integrity and conducting business in an ethical manner,” said Jay Debertin, president and CEO of CHS.

“I am proud of every one of our employees who made this possible by bringing our core value of integrity to life every day through their interactions with our owners, customers, and communities,” he emphasized.

CHS, which serves customers in 65 countries and employs approximately 10,000 people worldwide, provides essential services such as crop inputs, market access, and risk management.

To qualify for the World’s Most Ethical Companies designation, organizations must provide over 240 proof points demonstrating excellence in ethics and compliance, governance, environmental and social impact, and initiatives that strengthen the value chain.

Ethisphere’s panel of experts rigorously evaluates applicants, identifying best-in-class practices and recognizing superior performance.

This accolade underscores CHS’s dedication to fostering a culture of ethics and integrity, ensuring that its operations align with its core values while positively impacting the communities it serves.
