Canadian pet treat producer to expand manufacturing facility in North Carolina

USA – The Crump Group, a renowned pet treat producer headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, has announced a significant expansion plan for its manufacturing facility in Nashville, North Carolina.

This strategic move, involving a US$85 million investment, aims to bolster production capacity and further solidify the company’s position in the industry.

The expansion project, unveiled by The Crump Group, underscores its dedication to growth, innovation, and community engagement.

Following the acquisition of the facility in 2021, which already involved a substantial investment exceeding US$40 million, the company is injecting an additional US$85 million to expand production capabilities.

The Crump Group specializes in crafting naturally made, single- or limited-ingredient dog treats under renowned brands such as Caledon Farms, Crumps’ Naturals, and Dog Delights.

Partnering with major retailers across North America, including Costco, PetSmart, Walmart, and Target, the company has earned a reputation for delivering premium quality products.

This facility in Nashville was the company’s initial step towards establishing manufacturing operations in the USA. It played a key role in lowering transportation expenses for imported US sweet potatoes, a crucial ingredient in their pet treats.

Margot Crump, the co-founder and CEO of The Crump Group, expressed enthusiasm for the expansion, stating, “With heightened customer demand, we stand poised to aggressively expand our operations while maintaining unmatched value to our customers. Our ongoing investment across diverse capabilities enables us to deliver innovative solutions with the hallmark quality and adaptability to which our customers have become accustomed.

The expansion project not only signifies economic growth but also highlights The Crump Group’s commitment to environmental sustainability. Paul Sproule, the company’s president, emphasized that state-of-the-art technologies and processes would be implemented to minimize environmental impact and promote sustainable manufacturing practices.

This investment and expansion underscore our unwavering dedication to both operational excellence and community prosperity,” Sproule stated. “By expanding our footprint and creating new employment opportunities, we will make a positive and lasting impact on the local economy.”

For its efforts to enhance environmental sustainability, The Crump Group’s Dog Delights packaging won the award for Sustainable Design, Package Circularity at the 2024 PAC Awards

Six months ago we transitioned our Dog Delights packaging to recycle-ready. We’re so proud of our team in the ongoing commitment towards pet well-being, sustainability, and our planet,” the company said in a LinkedIn post.
