USA- Bartlett, a Savage Co., is teaming up with Regrow Ag, a sustainability solutions provider, to bolster sustainability at its new soybean crush plant.
The collaboration involves the utilization of Regrow’s Agriculture Resilience Platform, a cutting-edge tool designed to facilitate rigorous Scope 3 emissions analysis. This platform enables Bartlett to develop actionable carbon reduction plans while tracking environmental outcomes at the farm level.
Vaughn Duitsman, Bartlett’s Director of Sustainability, emphasized the company’s dedication to environmental stewardship, stating, “We’re committed to making a difference for our customers and the environment. Our partnership with Regrow will enable us to strengthen the agriculture supply chains we support and unlock new visibility into the progress of our sustainability programs.”
Scheduled to open in the third quarter of this year near Cherryvale, Kansas, Bartlett’s new soybean crush plant is poised to handle approximately 49 million bushels of soybeans annually.
Already underway, the facility will collaborate with local farmers, cooperatives, and commercial grain elevators. Its operations will encompass the production of refined vegetable oil, animal feed, and renewable transportation fuels.
With Regrow’s technology, Bartlett intends to craft sustainability strategies for soy oil and soy meal co-products. This involves data collection and reporting aligned with evolving sustainability standards for biofuels and insetting programs.
By assessing current agricultural practices, Bartlett aims to prioritize counties with the highest potential for emission abatement.
Regrow specializes in aiding companies across the agriculture value chain in measuring, reporting, and reducing on-farm emissions. Leveraging aggregated field-level data, the company establishes a baseline using soil carbon models and remote-sensing-based technology.
Dr. Bill Salas, Chief Strategy Officer and Co-founder of Regrow expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “We’re excited to partner with Bartlett to support their innovative programs, helping them to feed the world sustainably through a diverse range of products.”
The partnership between Bartlett and Regrow exemplifies a shared commitment to advancing sustainable agriculture practices.
In a similar move, in November 2023, Bartlett and Campbell Soup Co. announced a partnership to promote regenerative farming practices in North Carolina as part of a sustainability project.
The Bartlett and Campbell Soup Co. project encompasses 10,000 acres of farmland that supply wheat to Bartlett’s flour mill in Statesville, North Carolina.
