Atlas Copco expands with acquisition of Malaysian compressor distributor

SWEDEN – Atlas Copco, a leading provider of industrial solutions, has integrated the compressor business of JetCan Engineering Sdn Bhd, a Penang-based company specializing in compressed air equipment sales and maintenance to bolster its global presence and diversify its service offerings.

Established in 1996, JetCan serves industries such as food and beverage, electronics, medical devices, and general manufacturing in northern Malaysia. This acquisition brings 24 JetCan employees into Atlas Copco’s Compressor Technique Service division.

This development comes shortly after Atlas Copco announced plans to acquire ESA Service S.r.l., an Italian company specializing in leak detection and gas recovery systems.

Headquartered in Treviglio, ESA Service has been privately owned since its inception in 1980, employing 40 staff members and reporting revenues of €10.3 million in 2023. The deal was expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2024, with ESA Service set to join Atlas Copco’s Scientific Vacuum division within the Vacuum Technique Business Area.

Further expanding its European footprint, Atlas Copco acquired Perslucht Wilda B.V., a Netherlands-based distributor of compressors. Founded in 1979 and headquartered in Woudenberg, Perslucht Wilda provides portable air compressors, generators, light towers, and small electric compressors across multiple industries. The acquisition was finalized in October 2024.

In the same October 2024, Atlas Copco completed the acquisition of Kinder-Janes Engineers Ltd, an industrial pump distributor based in St. Albans, UK. Founded in 1957, Kinder-Janes has 20 employees and reported revenues of £12.5 million in 2023. This move aims to enhance Atlas Copco’s presence in the UK pump market.

The company also acquired Arlógica Máquinas e Equipamentos, Lda, a compressor distributor and service provider based in Vila do Conde, Portugal. Established in 1980, Arlógica had nine employees and recently began representing the Atlas Copco brand.

These acquisitions align with Atlas Copco’s strategic objective to enhance customer proximity, expand geographic coverage, and integrate specialized services into its portfolio.

By incorporating companies with established market positions and expertise, Atlas Copco aims to provide more comprehensive solutions to a diverse industrial clientele.

At its 2024 Capital Markets Day, Atlas Copco reaffirmed its commitment to significant organic growth across its four divisions, supported by a robust research and development program.

The company allocated approximately 4% of its annual sales to R&D, underscoring its focus on innovation and long-term growth.
