Ajax Equipment launches new continuous food-grade mixer

The Ajax twin mixer combines the company’s mixing and hygienic processing technologies into a single system designed to reduce downtime between production runs while maintaining consistent mixing performance.

UK – Bulk solids handling and processing specialist Ajax Equipment has officially launched an innovative food-grade, stainless-steel continuous twin mixer.

The state-of-the-art machine represents a strategic amalgamation of the manufacturer’s extensive expertise in mechanical mixing technology and high-standard hygienic production systems.

Designed specifically for complex industrial environments, the new processing system aims to maximize efficiency and substantially compress cleanup downtime between manufacturing runs without diminishing final blend quality.

A key feature of the new continuous mixer is its high operational flexibility, dictated by an integrated inverter-rated motor.

This motor allows food processing operators to dynamically adjust mixing speeds, varying the sheer intensity based on the structural sensitivity of the ingredients.

The machine utilizes specialized, readily interchangeable LynFlow™ augers available in either paddle or ribbon configurations.

The ribbon screws are carefully optimized for low-shear, gentle blending actions, whereas the alternative paddle augers supply elevated shear intensity for complex binding tasks.

Working together, these screws deliver a perfectly homogenous distribution across a broad range of delicate food products, including cereals, nuts, sticky syrups, potato derivatives, and viscous chocolate pastes containing sensitive inclusions.

Hygienic maintenance and cross-contamination prevention served as central design parameters during the equipment’s engineering phase.

The mixer utilizes a precision-profiled internal casing that guarantees every ingredient is actively swept by the rotating screws, effectively eliminating structural “dead zones” where materials typically stagnate and cause biological risks.

Furthermore, cleaning procedures are streamlined by highly polished internal surfaces and top-access covers.

The augers are engineered to be entirely withdrawn for deep sanitization without needing to disrupt or dismantle the main drive-end motor arrangement.

For quick cleaning cycles, an integrated blanking plate can be clamped securely to the discharge outlet, allowing the mixer to be filled completely with water and liquid sanitizing fluid.

The mixer can then safely run its normal cycle with the top covers closed, leveraging the mechanical actions of the rotating screws to thoroughly self-scour internal residues.

Eddie McGee, Managing Director of Ajax Equipment, stated that modern food processors face intense pressure to produce wide, high-quality product portfolios safely and efficiently.

He emphasized that the introduction of this flexible, quick-release auger system directly helps industrial manufacturers pivot between disparate ingredient lines with minimal effort.
