The financing will support a major increase in fertiliser production in Nigeria and fund a new manufacturing plant in Ethiopia as Africa seeks to strengthen food production and cut reliance on imports.
The revised budget reflects added infrastructure, including a gas pipeline, power plant, and fertilizer blending unit, as Ethiopia pushes to cut fertilizer imports.
The Nigerian group moves ahead with plans to supply Ethiopia’s fertilizer market and nearby countries.
Construction of the mill is reported to be already at an advanced stage.
