The industry’s expansion is a testament to the growing demand for canola, a crop that benefits farmers and provides South African consumers with a healthy, local oil alternative.
Founded in 1994, Southern Oil (Pty) Ltd (SOILL) has revolutionized the agricultural landscape in South Africa by pioneering canola cultivation in the Western Cape.
Located in Swellendam, SOILL’s state-of-the-art facility adheres to certified standards, ensuring exceptional quality in its products.
The company’s vision was to offer a locally processed alternative to imported oils, benefiting farmers by providing a valuable rotational crop that improves yields in subsequent years. Today, SOILL is South Africa’s largest canola-crushing operation, with nearly three decades of expertise in oil extraction and refining.
SOILL’s commitment to the industry’s success and its partnership with farmers have been a driving force behind this growth.
Southern Oil continues to invest in South Africa’s agricultural future through initiatives like the Canola Trust. SOILL’s dedication extends beyond production, supporting farmworker families and promoting children’s education.
“We are proud to honour the hard work of today’s farmers and cultivate a brighter future for their communities,” said Spammer.
As SOILL celebrates a successful harvest, the company remains focused on its mission of delivering excellence in every bottle of B-well canola oil, ensuring that consumers benefit from a product that’s not only high-quality but also grown with care by the hardworking farmers of South Africa.
