EGYPT – Edita Food Industries, in collaboration with the Misr El Kheir Foundation, has initiated a significant humanitarian effort to support the people of Gaza.
Edita has committed to providing products valued at EGP 5 million (approximately US$98,580) to assist the Gaza population through this program. The goal of this initiative is to restore livelihoods, promote hope, and deliver essential food supplies.
The launch of this initiative comes in response to the recent reopening of the Egypt-Gaza border, which allows for timely assistance to those in need.
Eng. Ahmed Samy, CEO of Edita Food Industries’ Snacking and Bakery Business Unit, emphasized the importance of solidarity with the people of Gaza.
He stated that this initiative seeks to unite efforts and inspire other Egyptian companies to collaborate in enhancing support for the region.
Edita’s involvement in Gaza is part of its long-term sustainability plan and its commitment to social development, aiming to improve local communities.
Edita Food Industries, founded in 1996 and headquartered in Egypt, is a leading player in the Egyptian packaged snacking food market.
The company produces a wide range of branded baked snacks, including croissants, cakes, rusks, wafers, biscuits, candies, and frozen bakery goods. It is affiliated with well-known local brands such as Molto, HOHO’s, Twinkies, TODO, Bake Rolz, Bake Stix, Freska, Oniro, MiMiX, and Molto Forni.
In October 2022, the Edita Foundation for Social Development partnered with Baserty and the Arab Academy for Science and Technology to sponsor a two-year Higher National Diploma Scholarship program aimed at advancing technical education and vocational training.
Selected students in this initiative received EGP 33,000 (approximately US$650) per year for two years, along with three months of employment training at one of Edita’s plants each summer.
In response to this call for collaboration, several companies, including Corona, Pasta Regina, Prisma Foods (owner of Raw Kettle Cooked Potatoes), Harvest (owner of Bawady & Harvest), Benefit (owner of V7 & V Super Soda), and The Arabian Food Industries Company Domty, have joined the initiative.
Their participation strengthens the humanitarian effort and expands the reach of aid, ensuring that more people in Gaza receive essential support. This collaboration highlights how unity can lead to effective relief efforts.
