The Build & Restore porridge is available in four flavors: Classic Unflavored, Banana & Cinnamon, Strawberry Jam, and Golden Syrup.
UK – Natural micronutrient start-up Biovit has launched the world’s first naturally fortified mass-market food and beverage product.
This new instant porridge range, developed in collaboration with whole food nutrition brand Purition, aims to tackle undernutrition among vulnerable populations.
Branded as Build & Restore, the Biovit-fortified porridge is specifically designed for individuals who experience a loss of appetite, have difficulty chewing or swallowing, or are recovering from surgery or illness.
With an increasing emphasis on nutrition and health—especially in care settings and among elderly populations—this product seeks to provide a convenient and nutritious option without compromising on quality.
According to Biovit, their porridge is the only meal replacement product on the market that is enhanced with natural vitamins and minerals sourced from organic plants, including curry leaf, moringa, and Ascophyllum seaweed extracts.
This approach contrasts sharply with conventional fortified products, which often rely on synthetic additives derived from petrochemicals.
“For years, we’d been searching for a truly natural alternative to synthetic micronutrients that wouldn’t compromise our food-first philosophy,” said Edward Taylor, founder of Purition.
The collaboration with Biovit marks a significant breakthrough in finding natural fortification methods that align with Purition’s values.
Ky Wright, founder and CEO of Biovit, stressed the importance of using natural nutrients in products aimed at preventing malnutrition. “The human body evolved to absorb nutrients from real foods, not isolated synthetic compounds,” he pointed out.
A two-year research study in partnership with the University of Swansea is currently underway to compare the bioavailability and efficacy of natural versus synthetic vitamins and minerals.
The findings, expected later this year, may influence industry standards and consumer preferences.
Biovit plans to expand its product offerings, with at least two additional fortified products set to launch in the UK market soon.
The company is also collaborating with over ten major organic and natural food brands on new product development initiatives.
